The tz was the first to break the news, now it’s being spread all over the world: Bayern apparently is about to pay €10m for Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel.
Van der Wiel can play both as right-back and center back what means that Bayern either plans to use him as starting right-back with Philipp Lahm moving to the left wing or, as the tz report suggests by saying that a Coentrao deal could be done soon, as a premium backup.
The Dutch international has spent his entire professional career at Ajax with more than 100 Eredivisie appearances in 4 years. He also was a regular for the Dutch national team that made it to the World Cup final (with Arjen Robben playing in front of him).
